Mobile networks Vodafone and Three are currently in talks to merge their UK businesses. Any deal of this kind would, of course, need to be thoroughly investigated by the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA).
After the failed merger between O2 and Three a few years ago, it was just a matter of time until Three found a new ‘merger partner’. With the business combination of O2 and Virgin Media, we are now seeing a further consolidation in the telecommunication space with the proposed Vodafone and Three combination.
Of the possible merger, Billmonitor Managing Director Klaus Henke says:
“While it will have less impact on UK businesses, a Vodafone and Three merger will clearly reduce the choice available for consumers, particularly as Three has built a strong reputation for big data offers at reasonable prices”
